Tick Tock

Somewhere along the line I stopped watching ’24’ (OK, it was about the second-last episode of Season 1, & I can’t even explain why, but I just suddenly realised I was indifferent. How can that be? I used to *love* Crazy Jack & the Homicidal Tendencies. Clearly this is some failing of my own).

Anyways, now I don’t have to watch another episode again, because Dave Barry has summarised them all, every one, & he does so regularly. It is a hoot, & even funnier than the real show:

Also, I am borrowing this from ataxi via doctor_k_:

In the words of the ancients, one should make his decisions within the space of seven breaths. Lord Takanobu said, “If discrimination is long, it will spoil.” Lord Naoshige said, “When matters are done leisurely, seven out of ten will turn out badly. A warrior is a person who does things quickly.”

When your mind is going hither and thither, discrimination will never be brought to a conclusion. With an intense, fresh and undelaying spirit, one will make his judgments within the space of seven breaths. It is a matter of being determined and having the spirit to break right through to the other side.

From the Hagakure (ataxi provides this link — http://lenpal.bostonwebspace.com/content/hagakure/). Thanks, guys! :)

One more thing: poets.org sends out a poem a day on request, & today’s was excellent. I hope you’ll check it out: Failing and Flying, by Jack Gilbert. It begins with the line:

Everyone forgets that Icarus also flew

Tonight I will have NO internet access! That so creeps me out.
