Disgusted, digested, disingenous?

body_impolitic compares & contrasts the body disgust of anorexics with the body disgust of ‘new virgins’ today.

(And by ‘new virgins’, I don’t mean virgins that are somehow born again, whatever that would mean, I mean virgins who proudly & obsessively control their virginity. Virginities? Vir– anyway.)

Both anorexia and this determined sexual abstinence share a tone of “Look what I can choose not to do!” with other behaviors such as extreme dieting. These behaviors also all relate to obsessive controlling the body and to bonding with peers while excluding oneself from the larger society.
