If you’re near the Library Gallery at Lone Star College, Houston, TX, USA this Monday before midday, make sure you check out the book launch and have some ‘heart-red punch’ for me. And say hi to Danel Olson, editor extraordinaire of the 21ST CENTURY GOTHIC tome, launching that day.
And it is a tome! It is a hefty, heavy tome with a bold and authoritative cover, and a TOC of dark awesomeness: an essay by Graham Joyce, an essay ON Graham Joyce (not the same essay), essays on Joyce Carol Oates, Margaret Atwood, Elizabeth Hand, Terry Dowling, Peter Straub, Jonathan Carroll, Tanith Lee, essays by Mary Ellen Snodgrass, June Pullman, Charles Tan, Leigh Blackmore, Robert Hood — I should stop. The question is: where to start?
(I can’t wait to delve into this book! If I can just finish one of the other 4 I’ve started in the past several weeks (this includes PILLARS OF THE EARTH, which is a thousand pages long & full of rambling).)
And check out part 2 of Danel’s interview over at The Gothic Imagination.
Also: La Isla de la Munecas, or Island of the Dolls, is the creepiest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
