”It makes me wonder, that part of the story, whether we all script our lives and then just re-enact them, almost as if it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy,” Morris says. ”We just imagine who we are and what our life story will be and then we act it.
”That seems like what Joyce has done. And that, to me, is the most interesting and disturbing aspect of the whole story.”

Filmmaker Errol Norris has made a film about Joyce McKinney, who either kidnapped or rescued her lover from a cult in the 1970s (opinions clearly vary). The complicated relationship she then engaged in with the media (was she victim or perpetrator?) became part of her mystique – and a predictor of her life. In 2008 she resurfaced under a different name, as the owner of the world’s first cloned puppies. And somewhere in between those events, she faked being a deaf mute theatre performer AND, later, a nun.
The film is called TABLOID.
Sounds like they’re gonna need several films to do this woman justice.
